The UK government had announced a postponement of the deadlines for certain cross-border customs procedures in the post-Brexit context, effective from 1 January 2021. HM Revenue & Customs, the UK’s customs authority, had drawn up a timetable for the gradual introduction of controls on imports into the UK from the European Union<\/a>, allowing businesses to prepare for this. This timetable has since been revised.<\/p>\n\n

The Great Britain Safety and Security (GB S&S) declarations for imports, initially scheduled for the end of October 2024, have been postponed for the third time to the end of January 2025<\/strong>, subject to further postponement.<\/p>\n\n

The date, currently set at 31 January 2025, calls for adequate preparation to avoid any blockage in the event of the declaration of safety and security being implemented.<\/p>\n\n

Currently and from 1 January 2021, goods from non-EU countries destined for the UK must be covered by an Entry Summary Declaration (ENS)<\/strong> which must be lodged on the GB S&S system<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Goods from the EU were initially exempt from controls until 1 July 2021. This exemption was extended to 1 January 2022, then to 31 October 2024, with application now scheduled for 31 January 2025.<\/p>\n\n
