{"id":193481,"date":"2025-05-09T11:07:12","date_gmt":"2025-05-09T09:07:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.asd-int.com\/?post_type=mini_blog&#038;p=193481"},"modified":"2025-07-16T15:16:25","modified_gmt":"2025-07-16T13:16:25","slug":"due-diligence-statement-dds-and-deforestation-the-eu-tightens-customs-requirements","status":"publish","type":"mini_blog","link":"https:\/\/www.asd-int.com\/en\/due-diligence-statement-dds-and-deforestation-the-eu-tightens-customs-requirements","title":{"rendered":"Due Diligence Statement (DDS) and Deforestation: The EU Tightens Customs Requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>To tackle the climate crisis and global deforestation, the European Union will enforce Regulation (EU) 2023\/1115 from 30 December 2025 (or from 30 June 2026 for SMEs and micro-enterprises). <strong>This law will ban the sale or export of products linked to deforestation or forest degradation<\/strong> after 30 December 2020.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Which products does the law affect?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>Commodities like<strong> coffee, cocoa, rubber, palm oil, soya, cattle and wood<\/strong> \u2014 and some related products such as leather, printed paper or charcoal \u2014 <strong>will need a Due Diligence Statement (DDS)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What&#8217;s new for businesses :<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You must prove that the products are \u201c<strong>zero deforestation<\/strong>\u201d and comply with the laws of the country they come from.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You must submit a due diligence declaration with the location of production sites, full supply chain traceability, and a signed commitment from the operator.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The DDS number must be quoted when completing <strong>customs formalities<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Expect the consequences!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Risk of refusal to market products deemed non-compliant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supply chains are becoming increasingly complex.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Need to review partnerships with suppliers to ensure environmental compliance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How can we prepare for these changes?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Implement an internal due diligence system that complies with Articles 8 to 11 of the EUDR.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify and qualify the risks associated with geographical production zones.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collect the necessary data and documents from suppliers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>ASD Group supports you<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>ASD Group offers tailor-made support to help you meet these new customs obligations.
