example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>VAT numbers;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>trade between European companies;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>certain customs and payment-related data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The aim is to <strong>detect complex fraudulent schemes more quickly, including so-called \u00ab <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asd-int.com\/en\/the-dangers-of-the-vat-fraud\/\">VAT carousel<\/a> \u00bb fraud<\/strong>, where companies use several countries to divert VAT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Controlled supervision<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The EU nevertheless specifies that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>access to data will be strictly <strong>limited to ongoing investigations<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>there will be <strong>no generalised surveillance of businesses<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>European data protection rules <strong>must be respected<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why this matters for businesses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This reform means that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>European administrations will be able to <strong>more easily cross-check information between countries<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>inconsistencies in VAT declarations will be <strong>detected more quickly<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>controls on intra-Community operations could become <strong>more efficient and more frequent<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Companies operating in several EU countries will therefore have an interest in strengthening compliance in particular regarding:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>their intra-Community VAT numbers;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>their VAT returns;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>their logistics flows and invoices;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>consistency between customs, accounting and VAT.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where does the text stand?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The proposal still needs to be approved by the European Parliament, probably in July 2026<\/strong>, before entering into force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div
