As mentioned previously, customs controls on entry into the UK will be gradually re-established over a period of 6 months from the end of the transition period.

UK’s HMRC has just updated the list of goods that will be subject to mandatory customs controls from 1 January 2021.

The list includes, but is not limited to, the following categories of goods:

  • products subject to excise duty;
  • controlled goods (that usually need a licence or are subject to additional duty charges)
  • endangered animal or plant specie;
  • and goods subject to anti-dumping and countervailing duties.
