Reading time: < 1 minute

On 25 September 2022, the Swiss people voted in favour of a reform of the Old Age and Survivors’ Insurance (AVS 21) which will have an impact on VAT rates.

To this end, the following changes will apply from 01/01/2024:

  • The standard rate of 7.7% will increase to 8.1%,
  • The reduced rate of 2.5% will increase to 2.6%,
  • The special rate for accommodation services will increase from 3.7% to 3.8%.

The Federal Council will have to decide in December to provide more details.
