The United Kingdom will become a non-EU country as of 1st January 2021 as part f the Brexit. The impacted products are: the products subject to veterinary, sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) border controls carried out by the SIVEP (France’s department of veterinary and phytosanitary border control) such as foods, agricultural and forest goods (animal and vegetal products), as well as live animals. The borders from Dunkerque to Roscoff will become entry points into the European Union. Inspections will have to be performed at these borders. However, all these locations may not be habilitated to inspect every types of products. Consequently, vehicles will need to be sent to the relevant inspection posts. Furthermore, it is imperative to manage these products with TRACES (Trade Control and Expert System), the veterinary and sanitary network of certification and notification. Otherwise, the transporters may be sent back to their departure point in the UK. Reminder: these rules also apply to products originating from the EU that travel through the UK for logistical reasons. Example: products from Ireland that are sent through the United Kingdom to France. For further information, please contact our experts.
