London has again postponed the application of sanitary and phytosanitary checks on European goods imported into the UK.
In August 2023, the UK government announced a three-month postponement of these checks, originally scheduled for October 2023 and now set for 31 January 2024.
Physical checks will also be delayed, with implementation scheduled for April 2024.
The detailed timetable is available in the guide “The Border Target Operating Model: August 2023”, published on 29 August.
This is the fifth time since Brexit that London has changed the timetable for implementing these formalities, which were initially scheduled for July 2021.
The UK government justifies the postponement by saying that it wants to give stakeholders time to prepare for the new post-Brexit controls.
